A little background

 

Wendy, here! And, I’m happy to tell you about us and how The Pilates Firm was started.

I was in my early teens when I was first exposed to working out and fitness in a real way and upon turning 16 began teaching Aerobics. After seeing the positive results people in my classes were achieving, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to doing this and to learn as much as possible about the human body, fitness and healing.  

In the years that followed, while teaching classes I also pursued degrees and certifications in the areas of personal training, physical therapy, nutritional counseling, among others and trained under renowned Yoga and Stott Pilates experts. I was particularly moved by the profound results that Stott Pilates offers; how transformative it is in terms of building strength, stability and function, as well as its healing power.

After teaching Stott Pilates classes at various fitness clubs and studios for a few years, I had a following that continued to grow and decided to open The Pilates Firm in a small room adjoined to a club where I was teaching. 18 years later, and after moving locations four times due to continued growth, here we are.

I am grateful to have Trish Hilts on board. She’s a highly seasoned trainer with expert skills in P.T. and Stott Pilates, among other areas. We came to know each other 23 years ago when Trish was my P.T. mentor. She and I share the same fitness and wellness philosophies and work ethic, and both know that two bodies are not the same and require individual assessment and customized plans. We also both believe educating our clients on what we are doing and why leads to really good outcomes.
